I love preaching. It is a privilege to speak as an ambassador for the King, an adventure to fashion fresh descriptions of His glory, and thrilling to introduce thirsty souls to the Living Fountain.
And I love camp preaching maybe the most. Though camp provides its own set of distractions, the typical media and time-wasting distractions are gone. Getting away from most of the junk and getting Christ in center-focus is premium time. So camp is worship concentrated, and therefore a great place for preaching. Based on the following quote I think JE would have enjoyed it too.
I don’t think that ministers are to be blamed for raising the affections of their hearers too high, if that which they are affected with be only that which is worthy of affection, and their affections are not raised beyond a proportion to their importance…. I should think myself in the way of my duty to raise the affections of my hearers as high as I possibly can, provided they are affected with nothing but truth.
