Challies linked to this challenging article on What You Can Learn from Calvin and Hobbes about the Message and the Medium. I agree mostly, I just wish I could come up with a cute catchphrase to do so.

welcome to tohu va bohu
tohuvabohu.org is a weblog written by Sean Higgins since April 2004. The phrase "tohu va bohu" is Hebrew for "without form and void" in Genesis 1:2 and works well as a motto for the content found on this site. You can read more about the site here.
I recommend that you subscribe to tohuvabohu.org via RSS

Or is it really just another way for us to get smiles, waves, and approval from others in the “born-again club” out in the supermarket parking lot, who blow their horns with glee when they see your “Honk if you love Jesus!” bumper sticker?
Oof. It’s not like being a Jesus freak is the hippest thing to do; but, being a Christian in the world, you want others to know you are a Christian… but do you want everyone to know so that they’ll see good works reflected from your life and glorify your Father in heaven, or do you want everyone to know so that you can gain approval from other passing Christians (his “born-again club” label is a good one), or a modicum of respect for being so open and “bold” about your beliefs… Do we wait until we find out that there is another Christian at work before we start talking about our church life? Can a “No God No Peace, Know God Know Peace” sticker accurately convey the good news, or does it just serve to degrade and desensitize others to that powerful message? Are we living like Christ Is Lord or just wearing the phrase like a brand name? It’s an interesting sort of “boldness” that we have. Me too.
