Resolutions In the Rear View Mirror

Today is the first day of March. What? That means two months of 2007 are down and I need a quick review/reminder of my Resolutions.

My first goal was Less fiddling. No doubt this issue is better and the year has been more productive thus far by comparison, but I still need to maximize pockets of minutes between blocks of responsibility.

I wanted to do More handwriting. I’ve had moderate success here too, but the three filled pages in my trendy notebook aren’t proof I’ve arrived just yet.

The third goal was More (offline) reading. This has been great and I always wonder why I allow myself to be lazy in this area. I’m looking forward to purchasing a new crop of books at the Shepherds’ Conference for reading harvest.

Then I wanted More (out-loud) praying. So far? Boo, hiss. Need: more prayer walks and more struggling.

Finally I resolved to Be (radically) thankful. The first two months have been a mixed bag of increased, as well as forgotten, thankfulness. But in pursuing this goal I’ve also enjoyed the unanticipated blessing of thinking more specifically through the subject of humility, and Scougal’s Life of God in the Soul of Man was especially helpful. Though the old man stubbornly refuses to be humbly thankful, I think there are signs that the Spirit is working.

Thanks for that, it reminded me to review my own “resolutions”.

Hey, that’s a good book and a short read. I think I’ll pull it out again.
