I listened to Thabiti Anyabwile’s message from the Desiring God Pastor’s Conference while running this morning titled, “The Glory of Pervasive Holiness in the Life of a Pastor.” The following wasn’t one of his main points at all, yet this little insight has huge implications for the way we think about and communicate in our pluralistic culture. Some say,
“Surely all roads lead to God.” They do, but some lead to Him as Judge, and one leads to Him as Savior.
I’d never thought about it that way or heard someone say it so precisely before. Brilliant. Thanks, Thabiti.
And totally unrelated except for the brilliance of the insight, last night at our 07SR debrief Jesse Martin made an observation on the few students who considered the history and biography on Spurgeon to be boring. In response to the suggestion that exposition of Scripture might have been more stimulating, he proposed just the opposite. In fact unbelieving students, in a state of spiritual deadness, would probably think that Scripture is more boring than biography. From an earthly perspective biography may be more interesting and less offensive. Again, brilliant. Thanks, JMart.
As for the unimaginative part of this post, here’s where we’ve been and where we’ll be for those of you who care about this sort of craic. Looking back, the Snow Retreat was over a mere two and a half weeks ago. Then we arrived home from southern California and the Resolved conference that took place last weekend. Looking ahead, this Friday through Sunday the family is going to a high school winter retreat with The River Youth Ministries where I’m speaking on the Myth of Adolescence. The following Monday through Friday Mo and I are headed to Harrison Hot Springs across the border for the annual Grace Bible Church Elders’ retreat. Finally, the following Monday I leave with a few guys from one28 for the Shepherds’ Conference. Of course all that reminds me there is no time like the present to ETP.

Phew! I am out of breath just reading that. I will be praying for you.
Hey! I was hoping to see you over the weekend. Glad you could make it down for Resolved. See you at Shepherd’s hopefully. - JM
That is some great perspective! Not to mention, we can turn that into a great response anytime someone spouts off the unbiblical pluralism nonsense.
I will also be praying for you and the family this weekend!
this does seem extremely busy yet certainly fun.
It’s certainly one of the coolest super-busy schedules I’ve seen.
