Where You Wish You Were

*

The picture above is what I’m viewing in realtime, right now. Though the glare off my laptop is almost unbearable, the rest of the view is hard to beat and the wi-fi bars are the strongest out here on the balcony. For those of you who like this sort of thing, it is 77 degrees and the sky is full of sunshine.

I’m in Long Beach, California, with Mo, the kids, and the in-laws. We’re staying with Mo’s aunt and uncle in their fourth floor condo, spitting distance from the beach. (Some burdens only the strong can bear.) We’re also a mere eight-tenths of a mile from the Long Beach Convention Center where Mo and I will attend the Resolved Conference this weekend. I will not be liveblogging the conference, primarily because I don’t want to. But if attending the conference through an internet surrogate is your thing, Challies is on his way.

And though I am looking forward to worship this weekend, yesterday’s experience already made the trip exceptional. We’d been planning to surprise Maggie for at least six months and there was great success. I’m sure Mo will give more details over at hobbsandbean, but the three of us went to Disneyland for the day. Before we even got into the park she got a “1st Visit” button and the day only got better from there. We really could not have enjoyed ourselves any more than we did. For a teaser, here is Maggie on her favorite ride, the carrousel.

If you don’t hear from me in the next few days, I’m probably being lazy, or repenting, or repenting of laziness.

Ah! Even just looking at the pictures makes me want to squint at the light. Outside my window right now it is cool, wet, and overcast. Ahhhhhh… Well, I suppose you still have the “wet” part. Enjoy the SoCal sun, fun, and excellent teaching!

SKH… You were on the other side of the room tonight after the first session. We were standing there waving at you and Mo… no response… no wave, no head-bob, no wink…

    Ashamed.

Nice to hear things are going well in SoCal! You missed the downpour this morning! It was the hardest this year!

Glad to hear “family day” went well! The western Washington sun enabled us to be outside yesterday! Good times!

although you won’t be live-blogging, can we expect some new thoughts in response to your weekend? It is always good to have the void filled! I do hope you will resolve to do this!
