A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

*

I purchased this postcard from a Wittenburg print shop in July 2004.

It is a drawing of the Schlosskirche or “castle church”, the doors of which Luther is said to have nailed his famous 95 theses in 1517. The words in German are from one of Luther’s hymns and are translated:

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing.

Every time I sing or hear that hymn, I think of that day in Wittenburg. I wish our team had more time there. What a cool place.

    I love those lyrics!
