Alex Chediak points out that when young people begin to realize that it’s about God’s glory, not theirs, they often go all Calvinist and stuff. And is that really a “Jonathan Edwards is my homeboy” shirt?

welcome to tohu va bohu
tohuvabohu.org is a weblog written by Sean Higgins more or less since April 2004. The name "tohu va bohu" is a Hebrew phrase meaning "without form and void" found in Genesis 1:2 and works well to describe the condition of my content. You can read more about the site here.
I'm happy to offer full and free subscriptions to tohuvabohu.org via RSS
. For those who don't like long reading assignments, you might prefer following me on Twitter, viewing my Flickr gallery, or reading from some other blogs I like. -

“baptism and membership figures show that the Calvinist churches of the SBC’s Founders Ministries lack commitment to evangelism”
They really just… don’t get it do they? I mean really, how many times do we have to say something - yet it’s always the same focus. From a leadership perspective, does it ever just get really tiresome hearing the same unsound arguments over and over again?
“…Calvinism offers young people a counter-cultural alternative with deep roots.”
I guess that begins to eliminate the popular term “Sub-cultural Christianity”, now doesn’t it? I love that he mentioned this quote. Too often do I see or hear people calling us American Christians “American Sub-culture Christians” we aren’t to be in this world (sub) and not of it. we are to be counter. other. I love that he mentioned that.
great article.
