I finished preaching through the Reformation solas again and wanted to put together a list of recommended resources for further study, similar to the online Edwards resources list I posted after this past Snow Retreat. Unlike that list, however, I’ve also included some books that are not available to read online.

Books
Reformation general:
- Whatever Happened to the Gospel of Grace? by James Montgomery Boice
- After Darkness, Light edited by R.C. Sproul
- Whatever Happened to the Reformation? edited by Gary L.W. Johnson and R. Fowler White
Sola specific:
- Faith Alone: The Evangelical Doctrine of Justification by R.C. Sproul
- Scripture Alone: Exploring The Bible’s Accuracy, Authority, And Authenticity by James White
Biography:
- The Legacy of Sovereign Joy by John Piper (including chapters on Luther and Calvin). See below for online manuscripts and audio downloads by Piper.
- God’s Outlaw: William Tyndale by Brian Edwards | I have recommended this book on Tyndale previously.
Websites
- Five Solas | This is the place to start for Reformation resources on the internet.
- Various biographies by John Piper | Piper does a biographical message each year at his pastor’s conference and the series is titled, “Men of Whom the World is Not Worthy.” There are 19 different manuscripts, including Calvin, Luther, and Tyndale.
Audio Downloads
- Biographies by John Piper
- Series on the Solas | A series done in Crossroads — the college ministry at Grace Community Church — by various teachers. (Scroll down through the list to find all five messages).

Thanks for the recources, SK. Nice new look man. POWER TO THE TEMPLATE TWEAKERS!
What a lot of goodies! Which one to try first? Oh dear, oh dear! I think I’ll have the caramel-filled… uh, I mean the John Piper manuscript-filled one.
I love well-written Christian biographies! There is no better reading aside from the Bible itself in my mind. Perhaps it was one of your sermons? which referenced this verse which could be taken as an encouragement or directive to know about those who have gone before through the reading of biographies; at least, I know it came to my attention somehow lately in that context: Hebrews 13:7 Remember those who led you, who spoke the word of God to you; and considering the result of their conduct, imitate their faith.
I’m jealous…I wish I could get WordPress to work for me haha. Nice site. I love the links and resources.
