example of usage The original PyroManiac has managed to find himself on the wrong side of the matchstick again, as commenters on his recent cessationism preamble have adamantly criticized his lack of proof-texts and exegesis (101 comments on this post at the time of my writing this one, though not all of them were negative!). In response to those charges, he reiterated with subtlety that his arguments thus far have not yet needed exegesis. This of course quieted the crowd, as there are only 120 comments on that post so far.
Here is the thesis of his reiteration, and the example of our word:
The knee-jerk demand for “exegesis” at the very start of the cessationism discussion is fatuous.

That is a cool word. And the whole thing on the one dude’s blog is pretty impressive. And see, your not doing so bad on this little “word series”.
I thought that fatuous meant something completely different. So I guess I should change my standard pick-up-line from “Salutations miss, you are looking quite fatuous. Would you be so kind as to allow me the pleasure of taking your fatuous self out to the cinema?” The only person I know of who ever fell for that line was Pecadillo.
