Why Comment When You Can Blog?

*Day three of the White Sox blogging drama continues. Of course, a certain team, from a certain town that starts with C and ends with O with “hicag” in the middle has completed the first wire to wire championship since the 1990 Reds, leading their division every day of the regular season, climaxing in their 1-0 game 4 World Series victory last night.

Yet the naysaying continues from some. And so rather than making comments to each other — thereby relegating this bitter dispute to the comment netherworld where only a few would follow — DWC and I have chosen to keep the quarrel immediately in front of us all.

You may remember that I expressed excitement over the Sox’s success, when Mr. Cleland carelessly responded about how he could care less. I countered with the personal pain that this caused, and early this morning David retorted again. The following is my rejoinder to his four points:

First, half-hearted, insincere congratulatory comments are seen as just that.

Second, there is a reason why Schoenfield writes for Page 2, i.e., not important enough to be on page 1.

Third, that was just a gratuitous link to Groundhog Day and you know it, and not a substantive argument in any way.

Fourth, 200 pound husband’s wife does watch the show, but I believe she appreciates Martha on TLC much more than Apprentice. Regardless, 200 pound husband is fully aware of what he’s missing, and is only “hooked” on doing whatever it takes to not watch it. (If MJ’s media tour takes him from 60 Minutes and Oprah to Martha — maybe. Otherwise, you can forget about it).

In the end I do hope that this difference of opinion can be resolved without further ado in an amicable way. I don’t want for Bo to have to get involved in this.
