Though it’s been almost a month since this story broke, I can’t let it go by without comment.
Regular readers know that I “fancy” Starbucks and that I have been “amused” by some of their white cup wisdom. For example, you can read some minutiae, some proof of evolution, or the original, Chopra broccoli. Even TK (see #1, #23, #22, or #31) and MJL (see his similar thoughts on Jambaisms) got into the spirit.
I confess, that “The Way I See It” campaign is silly and does nothing but promote idiocy and folly. However, how many people are really gleaning life application principles or personal values from the back of their coffee cup?
But apparently there is at least one evangelical Christian group offended by such published poppycock who have begun their own blathering campaign.
I found out about it via Ken Schram from Komo 4 News and his tirade called “Praise God, and Pass the Scones.” And he is not sympathetic to the “Concerned Women for America,” instead he finds another reason to mock Christians. In fact, he goes so far as to say:
Such is the way of those Evangelical Christians who are constantly twisting God into what suits them best.I don’t expect Mr. Schram — as a seeming non-believer — to appreciate or promote the Christian understanding of morality. But how are Christians being salty in this kind of crusade? Mr. Schram thinks it smacks more of idolatry. Maybe it’s like we’re hiding our light under a coffee cup.
