On a more serious note today, the most recent GTY letter is from John MacArthur (who, by the way, was a guest blogger for the PyroManiac yesterday) writing about the passing of his father, Dr. Jack MacArthur. As he listed some of things he learned about ministry from his father, this one stood out to me:
“Dad also taught me that ministry is always a matter of stewardship. We don’t design it, develop it, or own it. Ministry isn’t about ingenuity, personality, or skill. It’s not something we earn, deserve, or achieve. We receive it as a trust and a mercy. Ministry is a treasure to be guarded and protected, and for which we become responsible. There is no room for pride, ambition, or empire building — ministry is from God, by God, to God.”That’s good stuff, similar to what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 4:1-2. It is the Lord who judges us, so we should probably stop trying to impress the people so much.

That’s really good. I’ve actually been thinking about that a lot lately.
Thanks for perspective reminder. It is good to know that I cannot form and design ministry on my own, but rather it is the Lord who does it. I pray that I will be a good steward of it.
