A New Member in the Family

One of my great (temporal) joys over the last couple years has been to watch the ever increasing number of Apple’s in our ministry. After I purchased my Titanium PowerBook G4 in August of 2002, some five or six new Macs were added to the family: Sonja “G” Sarr-12” iBook, TonyK Jr.-12” PowerBook, JBarnts-15” PowerBook, GrantW-15” PowerBook, JHehe-12” iBook, JMartin-17” PowerBook, not to mention Natalie’s already existent iBook. And this report doesn’t even include the plethora of iPods. All of this computing joy and productivity is a thrill to my heart.

And it is now my pleasure to announce the newest arrival to the family. Last week I brought home a new PowerBook 15”.

Here is a breakdown on the differences between the old and the new:

Old and Busted:

  • Processor - 667 Mhz
  • Hard Drive - 30 GB
  • RAM - 1 GB
  • Video Ram - 32 mb
  • Optical Drive - DVD-Rom + CD-RW
  • Ethernet - 10/100
  • Firewire - 400 (1)
  • Backlit Keyboard - None
  • Airport - None
  • Bluetooth - None

New Hotness:

  • Processor - 1.67 Ghz
  • Hard Drive - 100GB
  • RAM - 1 GB
  • Video Ram - 128 mb
  • Optical Drive - 8x DVD-RW + CDRW
  • Ethernet - Gigabite
  • Firewire - 400 (1) + 800 (1)
  • Backlit Keyboard - Yes
  • Airport- Yes
  • Bluetooth - Yes
Apparently I was not the only one to get a new laptop this week. The PyroManiac blamed his lack of blogging on his new tool, while Think About These Things did likewise. I’d blame my pathetic blogging on the changeover process too except that all of my applications, settings, and documents were ordered to personal preference within 3 hours of opening the box. I guess there is a reason why Mac users get some much work done. I’ll have to blame the modest blogging on something else.

As Pzimmer would say, “We’ve added another Ninja Warior to the family.”
