On Fire

One of my heroes is Phil Johnson. Phil is Executive Director at Grace to You and pastors an adult fellowship group at Grace Community Church. He has one of the best Christian bookmark lists available, he curates a site for “theology from a bunch of dead guys” and he administrates the Spurgeon Archive. He is my by far my favorite editor ever and I never miss his seminars at the Shepherds’ Conference.

His new blog, PyroManiac is listed at the top of my Blogroll. He predicted that PyroManiac would launch around June 1 but he has already given us a taste of what’s to come in today’s post. If you don’t take the time to read the entire thing, at least enjoy these snippets:

…don’t expect this blog to be one of those where “common ground” and peaceful relations are sought with any and every theological perspective. My conscience is captive to the Word of God. I’ll be trying to do my little part to call down fire from heaven against evil ideological strongholds and mischievous doctrinal fads (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

And then a paragraph later in his inimitable way:

I might occasionally even publish a verbal description of a bad idea in its underpants.

Glory!

By the way, I liked the comment guidelines he posted near the end of his entry. Something like this would be appropriate for the comments on the skh weblog as well — though I don’t anticipate raising quite the ruckus that Phil will.
