I know I already blogged today, but please indulge me. In fact, since I’m blogging the adolescent sermon stuff from Sunday I do now in writing reserve the right to blog additional thoughts as well. If it’s too much for the three faithful weblog readers out there, read the adolescent ones first; they are mo’ betta’. But if you’re not doing anything else…
I’m sitting here in my office doing a little Bible reading and praying. By the way, do you know that there is nothing else in the world like reading your Bible? I’m serious. There is simply no experience like meditating on your very own copy of God’s special revelation.
Anyway, I’m on this Bible reading plan that has me doing two OT sections and two NT sections a day. So far I’m quite enjoying it. You can download this plan for yourself from the Bible Study Helps section of the one28 website if you want to check it out. I’m not really following the plan by calendar dates as much as I am by the order of sections to read, and today was Psalm 8.
Psalm 8 begins in verse 1 and ends in verse 9 with the same advertisement of praise:
O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is Your name in all the earth!I read that and I just couldn’t help but start singing the song in my heart! And in order to put myself in position to be filled with the Spirit, blogging “in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all my heart” (Ephesians 5:18-19), I’ve included the lyrics by Michael W. Smith for you to sing along wherever you’re at today. You can also click here to sing along to the midi version.
Oh Lord, Our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth. Oh Lord, Our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth. Oh Lord, we praise Your name. Oh Lord, we magnify Your name. Prince of Peace, Mighty God, Oh Lord, God, Almighty.
